Rock River Valley Blood Center - September 23rd at St. John's United Church of Christ in Belvidere is hosting a blood drive from 2-7pm.  Stop out and help save lives!  More information is available at www.stjohnsuccbelvidere.org.  

Tall Ships Chicago - Navy Pier invites you out for a completely unique event August 24-29.  Twenty to twenty-five historic ships will sail in and dock at Navy Pier on the 24th and be on-site for visitors all week.  The event includes international music, ship exhibits, crew challenges, arts and crafts, boat building, maritime displays, nightly fireworks and more.  Visitors can pick from dockside historical lectures and nautical-themed dining.  More info at www.navypier.com.

Jesus Built My Hot Rod Car Show - August 28, 2010 at New Life Assembly of God Church. 23 classes of cars competing for trophies in Best of GM, Ford, Mopar, Pastor's Choice, Committee's Choice, People's Choice, Best of Show.  FREE for the public. Pre-registration of vehicles is $5 by August 16th.  $10 registration of vehicles day-of.

Calvary Cares - August 28 In an effort to be a network of blessing to those in the community hard-hit by the economy, Calvary Christian Church will be collecting gently used clothing, furniture, working appliances and kitchen utensils from 8.28 - 9.10 from 9am - 6pm Monday through Saturday and from 1-6pm on Sundays.  A charitable gift letter will be provided to donors, and all items will be offered free of charge to families in need (not for resale).  Calvary Christian is located at 5455 Charles Street, Rockford and their number is 815.398.4940.

101QFL's Sharathon 2010 - September 21, 22, 23. 101QFL's three-day celebration of how God has touched the lives of our incredible listeners throughout the year, and give an opportunity to invest in this ministry.  Every gift will help keep 101QFL, your favorate Positive Hits Station, live and local!  101QFL serves the state-line area 24 hours a day-365 days a year by playing the best in positive Christian music, and informing you of everything you need to know in the state-line area.  Our goal is to raise $155,000 towards our annual operating budget.  Thanks for tuning in, and thanks for your support!

The Pec Thing - The 30th Semi-Annual "Pec Thing" Antique and Flea Market is coming Saturday and Sunday, September 18th and 19th rain or shine.  Held on the Winnebago County Fairgrounds in Durand, Illinois, over 400 vendors will be on-site with food, antiques and items not found anywhere else.  For more info, go online to www.winnebagocountryfair.com and click on Pec Thing.

The RCFBand Concerts Begin - Rockford's very own 35-piece RCFBand concert schedule begins September 26th and 28th, and continues on October 24th and 26th, November 23rd and 30th, and December 11th and 19th.  Reherrsals begin September 7th at First Covenant Church's reherrsal hall at 316 Wood Road, Rockford.  More information is available at 815.226.0558.  Openings are available for various instrument positions.
